Moxibustion (or moxa)

In Chinese, the word for acupuncture is 针灸 (zhēn jiǔ), a combination of the characters for "needle" (zhēn) and "moxibustion" (jiǔ). This reflects the traditional practice, which involves both needling and the application of heat through moxibustion.
Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the burning of mugwort near specific acupuncture points on the body. The heat from the burning moxa penetrates deeply, promoting circulation and activating the body’s natural healing processes. This technique is particularly effective in alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, boosting the immune system, and improving overall vitality.
In addition to traditional moxibustion, I also offer Ontake, a form of moxibustion using a heated moxa stick wrapped in bamboo. This allows for a gentle, rhythmic application of heat along the meridians, enhancing the therapeutic effect while being especially soothing and relaxing. Ontake can be an excellent choice for those sensitive to stronger forms of heat and smoke or seeking a more nurturing treatment experience.
Moxibustion, can be used alone or in combination with acupuncture, depending on your specific needs. It is regularly used for conditions such as joint pain and digestive issues, but there are other cases also. I carefully tailor each treatment to ensure comfort and effectiveness, enhancing your body’s ability to restore balance and wellness.
